TRIP TO LONDON 2018

TRIP TO LONDON 2018
As it is happily customary in our high school, Torre de los Espejos from Utebo, a group of 34 students hand-in-hand with three of their teachers, all of them adventurous alike, packed their suitcases with a good deal of illusion, expectations and excitement, and always moved by the convincing advice of their predecessors in this experience, left, one more year, for the historical as well as Cosmopolitan city of London with the only aim of being surprised.

London, as expected, did not disappoint. Our teens, showing an outstanding behaviour everywhere (as was honestly noticed on a pair of occasions) and enjoying a benevolent weather, could get soaked with the uncomparable cultural diversity and feeling of tolerance that this city gives off, where every one is equal though unique.
Can you imagine a better way to feel the city and take in the most significant monuments than trudging all around it?
So, no sooner said than done! An enriching daily walk of about 20 km. long, allowed us to experience the wide offer of the city. Walking along the “SOUTH BANK” of the river Thames, surrounded by incredible buildings, witnesses of a still alive history. The “GLOBE” theatre, stage where William Shakespeare released his universal wit and, according to experts, reinvented the human being; “THE TATE MODERN GALLERY”, an old electric plant reconverted into a world wide reference of modern art; climbing the 311 steps of “THE MONUMENT” in order to figure out the horror of the great fire of London from the top of it; “SAINT PAUL” Cathedral; enjoying a tasty and refreshing Fish and chips in “POPPIES”, one of the most fashionable restaurants in CANDEM TOWN before exploring each of its corners and shops and feeling overwhelmed by the diversity of its inhabitants; staring at every wonder you come across at every step you take in the BRITISH MUSEUM, coming from everywhere and from all times; getting immersed into the most lively and commercial atmosphere in the districts of SOHO, COVENT GARDEN and PICADILLY; and visiting the famous and colourful streets of PORTOBELLO ROAD and NOTTING HILL. These are just some illustrative pinches and examples of the pile of pictures, smells and feelings that our students will always remember forever.
We don’t want to finish this visual tour of our London experience without expressing our gratitude to our young trip-mates for their company, their spontaneity, their laughs, their curiosity, and even for their comprehensible complaints sometimes.
I am sure that all our baggage is much heavier now than it was before London.
Thanks a lot!!
